Q: What is Submittable?
A: Hy-Vee, Inc. is excited to partner with Submittable, a grants management platform, to bring you a streamlined application process for charitable giving. On this platform, you can submit, manage, and track your giving request applications and communicate directly with Hy-Vee regarding your request.
Q: Will I need to create a Submittable account to apply for a donation or sponsorship from Hy-Vee?
A: Yes. To apply for funding or in-kind donations, you will need to create a free Submittable account or sign in with Google or Facebook credentials.
Q: How do I find my EIN and/or confirm that my organization has a 501(c)(3) non-profit status?
A: Your organization's EIN (Employer Identification Number) can be found on your official IRS documents, such as your IRS determination letter, tax filings, or W-9 form. To verify your nonprofit's 501(c)(3) status, you can check the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search Tool.
Q: Can a school district apply?
A: School districts that are not classified as a 501(c)(3) and instead operate under a governmental tax-exempt status, do not meet Hy-Vee's eligibility requirements and must apply through an affiliated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, such as a PTO/PTA, school foundation, booster club, or education fund.
Q: Does the application need to be completed in one sitting?
A: No. You are able to save your progress and return later if needed.
Q: Can I edit my application?
A: If your application has already been submitted, you can request an edit or withdraw your submission and resubmit your form.
Q: Which Hy-Vee application should I use to request a donation or sponsorship?
A: To apply, select the application that the estimated total of your request (monetary and/or estimated in-kind value) best falls under. If you are unsure which application your request would best fall under, select the application with the higher funding tier and we will make sure your request is routed appropriately.
Q: Is there a particular browser I should use to apply?
A: Submittable works best on Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari. Internet Explorer is not supported.
Q: How will Hy-Vee communicate with me about my request?
A: We will communicate to you via email, so be sure to monitor the inbox associated with your Submittable account and safelist notifications from Submittable.
Q: How do I determine the value of my in-kind request?
A: Please visit the Hy-Vee website to source the cost of the products you are seeking and use that total to determine your estimated request value.
