Hy-Vee Providing Free A1C Screenings in April

April 2, 2019 | News & Press Releases

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (April 2, 2019) — In honor of National Diabetes Awareness Month, Hy-Vee, Inc. is providing free Hemoglobin A1C screenings throughout its eight-state region during the month of April.

The free screenings will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis at the Hy-Vee Healthy You Mobiles in more than 150 Hy-Vee store parking lots. Hy-Vee registered dietitians will conduct a simple blood test, and review the results with individuals immediately following the test.

Hemoglobin A1C is a blood test that individuals living with diabetes use to manage their blood glucose levels, and provides information about an individual’s average levels of blood glucose over a two- to three-month period.

The following organizations helped make the screenings possible: VEGA, ASCENSIA Diabetes Care and Bing Beverage. Each person who receives a screening will be given a goodie bag that includes samples, coupons and educational materials, while supplies last.
