WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (Aug. 13, 2021) — Hy-Vee, Inc. announces today that Tim Ruark from the Chariton Distribution Center has reached the 1-million-mile mark for consecutive miles driven without a preventable accident. Ruark will become a member of the Hy-Vee Road of Gold Hall of fame.

On August 9, Ruark made quick work of his remaining 538 miles during morning deliveries to Rock Island, Moline, Macomb and Springfield, Illinois. He officially reached the 1-million-mile mark when returning to the distribution center. He is Chariton’s 95th driver to reach the milestone, and his coworkers were eager to help him celebrate the accomplishment.

Ruark began his career at Hy-Vee’s Chariton Distribution Center in April 1999. He was a driver from 2004 to 2012 and held a yard coordinator position for a short time. In March 2013, he returned to full-time driving for the distribution center.

The Hy-Vee Road of Gold program honors drivers who have achieved safe miles driven with a variety of gifts and a personalized gold- (1-million-mile safe driver) or black- (2-million-mile safe driver) painted Hy-Vee tractor to drive for five years.
